I don’t know why I’m supposed to believe that Shawn and Gus, who are supposed to have graduated from high school in 1995, would be so conversant in the minutia of 80s pop culture. All I know is that it makes me happy.
As does a show that presents a 13-year high school reunion, complete with references to Abe Froman, a Breakfast Club-esque voice-over, and pineapples on the sign-in table (and spelling out “1995” in the punch bowl!). “Murder?…” continues Psych‘s recent trend of sincerity, capping the episode with Shawn’s surprisingly mature confession to his high school crush and his irony-free acknowledgement that Gus is his better half. I’d worry they might be getting too sincere, and the show seems to be struggling to fit in Lassiter and Jules this season. But then Shawn asked his father for Samantha Baker’s undies, so all is well in my world. Don’t you forget about me, Shawn and Gus.
